As we prepare to welcome students back on Tuesday, August 25, parents and guardians should become familiar with the student drop-off and pick-up traffic patterns at Flemingsburg Elementary School.

If you plan to drop off or pick up your child, please use the link below to review the traffic pattern before arriving on campus:

Arrival and dismissal traffic may be heavier than usual, especially during the first several days of school. Please:

• Allow additional travel time

• Drive slowly and remain alert

• Follow all posted signs and staff directions

All Fleming County Schools campuses and the District Office will be closed on Friday, August 21, 2026, for mandatory Opening Day staff professional development.

Campuses and the District Office will reopen to the public on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

Dear Fleming Countians:

A dream years in the making will come true on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, when the new Flemingsburg Elementary School officially opens its doors to students on the district's first day of school.

This week, FES faculty and staff are making their classrooms awesome for students, while contractors complete the finishing touches throughout the building. We are only days away from opening this beautiful place of learning, one that will serve Fleming County students for decades to come.

A special thank-you must go to the faculty and staff of Flemingsburg Elementary School. Throughout the planning, transition, and move into the new building, they have demonstrated patience, flexibility, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to their students. They have invested tremendous time and energy into preparing classrooms and creating a welcoming learning environment. A beautiful building provides the space, but the people inside it make it a school. Our FES faculty and staff are bringing this new school to life.

We also cannot thank the Fleming County Board of Education and the many community members enough for helping make this dream a reality for our students, teachers, and staff. None of this was easy, but together, as a community, we made it possible.

On Monday, August 24, 2026, we look forward to welcoming students and families to the new Flemingsburg Elementary School Open House. Students and families will have the opportunity to tour the building, visit classrooms, and meet their teachers before the first day of school on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Fleming County Schools Statement Regarding Ewing Elementary Rumor

Dear Fleming Countians,

This morning, Fleming County Schools was made aware of a rumor circulating at Ewing Elementary School regarding a student threatening to bring a gun on campus. To be clear, there is no active or credible threat to Ewing Elementary School. No student, staff member, or faculty member is in danger.

We understand that any concern involving school safety is upsetting for families, and we take those concerns seriously. This rumor appears to stem from a situation that was reported before Spring Break. That matter was investigated and addressed at the time it occurred. School administration, district administration, and the School Resource Officer followed all required safety procedures, board policies, and threat assessment protocols. Internal and external review processes were completed before any student returned to school.

Because this matter involves students, Fleming County Schools cannot share personally identifiable information, student discipline details, or confidential threat assessment information. However, we want to reassure families that threats, rumors, and safety concerns are never ignored. Every report is taken seriously and reviewed through the appropriate safety channels.

While we understand that families may share concerns out of care for student safety, spreading unverified information is harmful and disruptive. Rumors can create unnecessary fear, interrupt the educational process, and divert school and law enforcement personnel from their work of keeping students safe and focused on learning. Any safety concern should be reported directly to school administration, the district office, law enforcement, or through the district’s established reporting procedures so it can be addressed quickly and appropriately.

Fleming County Schools remains committed to maintaining safe, supportive learning environments while protecting both student safety and student privacy.
